Instructor video introduction
I believe that instructor video intro should be a gold standard.Should contain short bio, objectives and expectations from the course and brief reminder of codes of conduct etc. Typed on the screen texts can very well stand for the weight of the old fashioned textbooks but the human nature still can connect to the real human face much better than to Mr. Maxwell's :-)
Hi Radmila!
I know this has been a point we are moving closer to. I recall when I began teaching online a weekly chat was done by everyone (including the instructor) typing everything. Now we are all using voice and allowing students to talk as well. However, I am still not sure that putting a video face to a name is necessary. I share a picture of myself in my classrooms and believe that is sufficient, as I prefer not to take pictures and certainly not be on a video. I also think many students would lose out as they may not have the technology that will allow them to easily access a video chat, even if just an intro.
What do you think?
Radmila,
But Mr. Maxwell is a likeness to me! ;-]
Well stated. Thank you for sharing.
