Dividing Time

One area I started here many years back was checking the DB and emails in the am and pm, and email at lunch. This made the amount of material to cover at each login minimal and easy to manage.

I am fortunate enough to be able to utilize the same schedule, Scott. In fact, since I work from home and am around the computer for most of the day, I often leave my email open and click on the inbox frequently. In addition to reducing the taxing feeling that a full inbox creates, this practice has proven to be an excellent way to enhance my presence in the class. Student sincerely appreciate the prompt replies I am able to deliver.

Scott,
Great advice! Thank you for this reminder. In this electronic age our mailboxes continue to fill whether we attend to them or not. By checking in on a regular basis we can manage the mail and posts we receive plus we can give feedback more frequently. Another advantage is that by keeping the needed responses manageable we will be more apt to check our boxes rather than putting it off because we know we have a lot of responses to make which involves 4-6 hours of our time at one sitting.
