Online Learning VS Traditional

Do student's tend to behave differently when they are online rather than in the classroom?

Mamie,

I would agree that our learning environments should be diverse. For example, diverse in the nature of the assignments, diversity of student group assignments, diversity of topics and options within assignments, diversity in the tools used in the learning environment. By incorporating diversity in online learning we are more likely to connect in a personal and meaningful way with our students.

Hello Herbert,
I have also taught in traditional ground campus environments in public, private and professional educational Universities. For me the different educational learning environments are their to help students with different learning abilities. Some students do resistant to the online system mostly because they are afraid of something new. In a diverse world I feel we have to continue to make our educational environments diverse as well.

shannon,

I have been teaching traditional, online, and hybrid for many years. Overall, I have not seen students behave differently in those courses. The main thing I have observed is that a number of online students will begin an online course or program with a personal assumption that the course will be easier or less work if taken online. When in fact, the online courses are as much or more work than the in-person courses. I have also seen online students that expect the course to be directly tailored to there personal schedule and expectations; however, this is not that prevalent. The students' overall behavior has not been significantly different in my experience.
