Instructor Participation

It must be noted that while the online environment allows both the student and the instructor flexibility in terms of their respective deliverables; it is of tantamount importance that the instructor is seen as actively engaged, and interested in the course as a whole and in each individual student.

Lance,

And the more timely the feedback the more likely the students are to see you as "present" in the course and active. Students that feel very disconnected from the instructor in a course can become very turned off by the course very quickly.

I would say this is one of the most important part for an instructor while teaching an online course. It might seem as though your work is done once your course is set, but your responsiblity is now to review your students work, and give them feedback on their work along with informative information to continue the communication.

Jeanean,

So what would you suggest an instructor do to establish this presence of engagement in the course to ensure students' see them as engaged in the course?
