Engaging Learners
Graet topic. What is the best method for engaging students in a classroom?
Angel,
This is one of many very good, foundational approaches. Creating that feedback exchange between the learner and instructor establishes rapport and ease of communication. Very nice. Thank you.

I believe one way to ensure that students feel engage in the online classroom is to ask early in the term for informal feedback on how the course is going and whether they have any suggestions. Asking for feedback early on helps to ensure that students are having the best course experience.
Kerri,
Yes, addressing multiple learning styles within the classroom is important. Do you have some specific implementation ideas you would be willing to share within this forum? Thank you for your contribution.
I feel that as educators we have to be prepared to deliver the material in mulitple ways to reach the different styles of learners.
Hi Maria, there are many strategies for engaging learners online. Discussion is the most widely used strategy; however, you should include a process for helping learners use critical thinking to engage in discussions. We use the Elder & Paul Model of Critical Thinking and have learners utilize the "Elements of Thought" as they engage in discussions. Tina
