Providing Feedback
Providing feedback in a timely manner is very important to the learner. When giving feedback on a written assignment I use the sandwich technique. Give praise at the beginning and end of your feedback.
Providing feedback in an online environment helps the students to have a sense of belonging. A supportive teaching environment that applies feedback allows for student autonomy that can can foster increased student interest, enjoyment, engagement and performance.

This also establishes your "presence" in the course as the students see you. The quicker the feedback and regular communications will ensure your students consider you present and active in the course and will help motivate them to remain active in the course.

I also use the sandwich technique and I explain to the students I will be using this and provide additional information to them about the technique. I encourage them to use the technique as well.
I also think that providing feedback in a timely manner is important. I provide feedback to my students within 3 days of the assignment being submitted. I believe that the sooner they obtain the feedback the better. They will be able to apply the feedback to their upcoming assignments and if they have any questions they will be able to ask them and get an answer before the next assignment is due.
