Asynchronous Learning Environments

While I understand the theory behind coordinating synchronous and asynchronous learning environments I must confess I am not completely a fan. As I do not want to place the added stress of participating the synchronous environment on the student when part of the selling point is the independence and flexibility of the learning environment.

I do believe that synchronous enviromenment is a great way to have all students at one time in a room (not literally). But the fact that this brings all attention to focus on many items, you can expand on a theory, make correction to an item or even ask students for an understanding of a question or just a lecture were information is needed to heard and understood by all.
