online confliect
How do you resolve online conflict?
I monitor my discussion board closely and ensure all students stay on track. When I do see conflict on the horizon I act quickly. I remove any post that are inappropriate and contact the student immediately. I have found that most students are open to discussion and once I talk to them directly we can resolve the issues at hand. It’s been my experience that remaining highly visible in the course room, cuts down on problems and conflict.
Hi Sarah, I think the important thing is to make sure that you are constantly monitoring the discussion area of the course and stepping in as quickly as possible to resolve conflict. Generally, if a post is offensive and otherwise violates our learner code of conduct, we will remove the post and communicate with the owner of the post via coursemail or email that we have removed the post and why it violates the learner code of conduct.
