It is important that the instructor should keep checking his or her email now and then, and shold set up adefinite schedule for the students for their assignments
Consistent, Timely, Specific and Concise replies are all necessary to maintain instructor credability, authority and rapport. Awareness of the individual student's situation and personality will help structure the response to be most effective in addressing the student's learning needs.

I agree with you but I also believe it is important to be flexible with that schedule as well. You may have a class (as a whole) that catches on slower or maybe as class that catches onto concepts faster.
