Course design is very important in helping the instructor manage workload. Some of the assessment can be setup to be graded by the computer instead of the instructor and then the grade is automatically entered into the gradebook.
francis,
The interaction with students is essential. You are right in that we need to develop an appropriate workload.
Thanks.
The workload must be such that it allow the instructor to complete the necessary teaching and still have time to interact with students. It is important for the intructor to teach and also help all students compete the session
Robert,
We all find what works for us and approach things differently. Others can learn from you and it's good to talk to others about what works for them as well. Nice job.
I have no problem with the basic course design but approach the chat/lectures somewhat different from other faculty.
I post the assignment in the discussion notes and proceed to respond to the project as I would answer the questions etc. This gives me an opportunity to define concepts, share expectations, provide students with an outline to the work, and generally get an early start on their research and writing. I also post 4 or 5 research websites that I encourage them to read before starting on the project. Covering the assignment generally can take about 30 minutes of our hour. The remaining time I lecture on an expansion of the week's topic with cases, comments, current trends, etc. I have excellent feedback to this method.
