Meaningful feedback increases the student's knowledge of the subject matter. Formative and summative assessments should be used.

Feedback strikes me as a good way to energize the class.  Summative and formative assessments are important.  But using the tools described in this information, a rubric may be a fair way to assess individuals/groups and peer functions.

I will continue to use rubrics within my curriculum of grading, but I will improve the student's access to it.  I like the idea.

Assessment is key to improved learning and I will now add peer-assessment.

Feedback is important for students.

This was mostly a review, I did learn that fomative assesments are to assess progress.

Feedback is crucial in establishing what the instuctor wants from the student.  If there is no communication, attrition could take place.

As an earlier poster commented, I didn't necessarily learn something "new".  I definitely needed to be reminded of the importance of rubrics and of giving the opportunity for students to use them to self-assess before turning in projects/presentations for a final grade.  I wil comment too that teaching virtually will now eliminate an issue I have of running out of time to do an exit ticket.

Rubrics, assessments and feedback are essential to learning.

Providing feedback is essential to assisting online students in correcting errors in their writing.

Rubrics should be clear and explained along with the project instructions for understanding.  Peer and Self assessments are opportunities to learn from others, view mistakes as an opportunity to make changes and provide for a transfer of learning to future projects.  Feedback should be communicated as information to increase learnng, not to justify a grade.

To be consistant with grading or assessments the Rubric is the best. Student self assessment is the best way for the student to truly understand how they are doing in the class. It aslo helps the instructor how to approach methods of helping the student improve.

The importance of a well thought out rubric.

When the feedback is connected to the learning objectives and meaningful feedback is provided to the students, learning is improved.

I need more practice with using self and peer evaluations.  The maturity of my students makes this difficult.  I am going to try to work this into my feedback cycle more

I learned that teachers should give feedback after each assessment. This gives the students an opportunity to make a connection with the teacher and the assignment.

I love the idea of providing screencasted feedback. It is important to tie feedback to the learning objectives and to keep feedback positive.  The rubric should tell them about the grae.

I have found that having students submit videos of skills and self-evaluate before they submit has been very valuable for learning.

Make sure to give possitive, clear and meaningful feed back to your students.

There are many ways to assess (formative, summative, peer to self, peer to peer), and a variety should be used. It is also essential for the instructor to provide feedback in appropriate ways (automatic and fast feedback is important).

Formative assessments, rubrics, and feedback are key components in the learning process. They are typically a simple and

frequent methods to assess students progress and adjust instructional strategies. They provide a roadmap to help our diverse

learners navigate their way through their assignments.
