Using Facebook
Would creating a Facebook page give students the wrong impression regarding their instructors "professionialism"?
Rolando,
Keep trying new things and assessing them to make sure they are working for you.
Nice job.
I have considered using Facebook and wiki but since the courses are delivered with a “canned†system containing email, live chat session tool, instant messaging, discussion threads, and so on, I believe it would be cumbersome for students having to go to multiple places… having a proper system (all inclusive) facilitates course delivery.
Any other views?
Kerri,
Yes, thanks for sharing your ideas. It's good to try new things and Facebook may be one of them.
Thanks again.
Not at all. Facebook can serve many great purposes and it is important to show that social media sites have a place in the business world and can be used as a tool to develop a business.
James,
Some people are, but keep in mind that is can be set up as a private group just for your students. Not "wide open" for all to see.
I'll be honest. I'm apprehensive about using FaceBook in the classroom due to possibilities for abuse and inappropriate behavior.
Amaris,
Actually you can be very professional on Facebook and students need to understand how to do that. Businesses now use Facebook and Twitter and it's important for students to realize how it can be more than a place to dump pictures and talk to friends.
