Keeping a Great Communication Line Open
To have a just one student to respond to your out reach is great, but to reach out to multiple is outstanding. I think this take patience and a strong willed person to help these students learn to reach out in a time of need or to go above and beyond to communicate with fellow student's and Instructor's to keep the communication line open.
Carol,
I use a Frequently Asked Questions site on the discussion board. I tell students NOT to email me questions, but put them on this site so all can benefit. If they email me a question, I tell them to post it and if they ask me a question I know has been answered, I say check the FAQ discussion board. This has really helped my email overload and students now know where to look when they have questions.
As a student and an instructor, one of the most challenging things is to ask, or answer a question that provides multiple answer choices. It's so annoying to read or respond to the same answer over and over. I'm not sure how to avoid it because often we are assessing the understanding of the material being covered but it would be nice if we could come up with a way to be less redundant.
Samantha,
We have to keep that communication flowing and keep up with the communication as well. Students can also communicate with each other many times and find that connection. Thanks!
