Instructor Self Analysis

An instructor self - analysis will allow instructors to see if they are prepared to be an effective online instructor. The analysis will also allow instructors to identify their weakness and strengths. Identifying these areas will help the instructor improve overall and become a better online instructor.

I liked how this course mentioned how instructors should take an online course in order to relate to their students. I recently finished grad school from an online program and try to relate my experience to my students struggles. I know the importance of finding a time that works with your schedule in order to succeed.

Lisa,

I agree and that is why we use assessment to assess our role in student learning. We have to continually improve.

I think instructors constantly need to reavaluate there weakness and strengths after each course so they can improve teaching methods in their courses.

Jean,

Great post, we do teach to our strengths. There is even research that shows we naturally teach like the way we learn. When we evaluate ourselves we are practicing life long learning.

I feel an instructor self-analysis can prove to be very beneficial. We tend to teach with our strengths and disregard our weaknesses. Being aware of the weaknesses and working to improve on them will certainly make us better instructors.

Sodang,

I agree with you. As instructors we too should practice self analysis and life long learning skills, particularly if we are teaching in a professional field. I don't want students to think I am not willing to improve myself when I expect them to do so.

I also feel it is important for instructors to do a self analysis to determine their weakness as online facilitators. Once the instructor has learn all of the tools and knowledge, they can transfer this information to their students. Learning these new tools can help the instructor relate to student who are struggling as new online learners

Shundra,

Nice post. I agree with you. I think this is one way to target our professional development in a meaningful way. don't you?
