Body language

As an executive I am trained to view everything about a person. Many times you only have one minute or less to make an accurate decision about a person or their verbal content so it is very important to take everything into consideration. Sometimes one can mask their motive in words however, body language is the nonverbal attribute that can tell it all!

I agree with you, Heather, that body language reveals a lot about the speaker. I, too, am an instructor and can assimilate much from the student's body language, and I think the reverse is also true, of what we reveal to our students with our own body language.

I truly believe body language can tell you alot. It can tell you if someone is lying or is timid. I am an instructor and pay attention to my students body language all the time.

I've enjoyed & agree with each post. Every component of body language is very important. As we're reading them, they're reading us. I additionally stress eye contact & nods to reassure him/her I am concerned

Luckily our online classes are real time and require all students to have a webcam so the instructors can see them as they ask questions. I think that it is very important to be able to see/hear a student when they are trying to communicate.

El Componente verbal sí utiliza párr Comunicar Información y el no verbal párrafo Comunicar STATES AND Actitudes Personales.

An interesting point, Eric!
Of course in the online teaching world we cannot see body language so the words count.
But, a good reminder for 'live' classroom situations.

Body language is so important as you say. It conveys unconscious conversation as we relate to one another. It is important to be aware of your own body language so as not to convey the wrong meaning as we converse.

I agree! Body language is extremely important. I often have to look at myself, also, and see how I am portraying myself. I often unconsciously fold my arms across my chest and have to remember to not do that.

I encourage my students to invest in one of the many books written about body language. It is a helpful tool when you are dealing with people. The body may "say" something that the mouth does not.
