it seems to be a lot of work but you get what you put in to it.
Rose Ann,
This is great that you have found these students who you can "read" in order to get a read on the whole group.

i have some key students that i use to gauge how i am doing with presenting class material. they are 1. the best student-don;t want them bored and 2. the most "difficult to learn" student-don't want them lost. I am constantly challenged by my students to "tweak" everything i do each time i do it. Each time i present a class i try and make it better than the last. I can usually tell by the end of the class whether the presentation of material was a "hit" or needs some revision. I think you need to constantly re evaulate what you do to keep it dynamic.
I think you make a great point about keeping all things in perspective.

I agree that sometimes and with some students it can feel like a lot of work, but then I realize, it really isn't much at all compared to changing a goldwing rear tire in 110 degree heat but the axle is frozen. The brake caliper is siezed and the disc bolts are all rounded out. Working with our students is way less work and more rewarding.
I agree Sometimes it is alot of work. I think it is worth it to see the improvement of your students.
