Preparing Presentations
By taking this course now i understand a successful presentation comes along with having time to prepare for it. In addition, knowing and understanding the subject area.
I agree! I am currently preparing a presentation to a group next week. I was asked only two weeks ago with the outline for the presentation given to me two days ago. I am worried about the lack of time but I have already learned some important information in this course that will help me be better prepared.
david,
excellent point made here about wasting time. It is inconsiderate to waste the time of our audience by not preparing adequately.
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Without proper preparation even a skilled presenter or instructor looks unprofessional. Neither the audience nor our students deserve to have an unprepared and unprofessional presentation or presenter. We should never be in the habit of wasting time ours or those in our audience.
Benita,
preparation really is the most important aspect. I'm not saying the others aren't important, but to me there is no substitute for preparation.

Watching the body language of your audience is very important during a presentation. By warching, the presenter can is if any are tuning out or mentaly wandering. The presenter can change his or her vocal tone, change up the material by putting in a personal story etc. This way they could get the attention back to the presentation from the whole audience.
I agree. Prep time and knowledge of the subject is key, Without them the presentation could misunderstood, seen as a waste of time to those in attedance. The list goes on.
Any presentation must be given prep time to be successful and the knowledge of the subject is a must. If these are not in place the prsentation and the presenter will not be interesting and informative. They will be labeled as not effective.
Nydia,
This is why I always try to make sure I have plenty of time before I actually present on a topic. I try to push for as much time as possible so I can make sure I'm comfortable with the topic & have time to research the audience.

The topic of this course is interesting and important for those who are constantly making presentations on various topics. As mentioned the key to success lies in the mastery of the subject to be presented and the time to prepare. The course helped me to get more technical and reinforce the knowledge they had previously.
This allows me to understand individuals bodily language better in order to prepare presentation for an diverse (students) population.
I'm glad the course was helpful to you. And yes, the more prep time, generally the better the presentation & also you will know the subject matter better.
