Key Idea.
Is very important develop a presentation idea to make a presentation.
Roberta,
this is a great statement & unfortunately too often it is overlooked.

I believe that the key message must be made very clearly to most audiences especially in demonstration presentations - what are we doing, what are the methods, what is the expected outcome? This helps the student know exactly what the purpose of the presentation and class session is.
Scott,
this is a great point. Making the audience feel like you are there just for them.

you have to create a presentation that will make the audience feel that they are what matters most in the meeting by engaging them and bringing them into the discussion when appropriate.
Yes, I agree. I only have a few minutes each time I present, so first, getting their attention, then mapping out a very concise and clear objective and how that relates to them really helps.
Michael,
yes, great example of how we need to grab them right off the bat.

Lynae,
yes, ground them in the "big idea" & why you are asking them for their attention. This only helps throughout the presentation.

Building on the presentation by utilizing the audience energy helps in creating a very memorable presentation. Utilizing these skills along with a well developed presentation can create a "home run".
Audience energy really makes a big difference. It can be very hard to present to an unenthusiatic group. I found when that happens I have to switch grears for a few minutes to get their attention and participation in a side line exercise
I am a magician and I have always found that success always lies in the first part of any act or presentation. If the audience is not "grabbed" in the first 3 minutes the presentation is lost. I usually try to come on friendly and with a joke. I want the audience to want like me and hear more of what I have to say. In my magic act I open with something larke and flashy. It always gets their attention and holds it.
I have always found that the first few minutes of any presentation are critical. You really need to hook them in the beginning of your presentation to get their attention. After that having a clear objective and plan for that objective will enhance your presentation.
Thomas,
yes, the more we can engage the audience in the presentation, the better off it will be.

it really is imperative that we develop the goal & objective & overall idea first, then build the presentation to match.
