Priorities

Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn the vision into a reality. The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. By knowing what you want to achieve, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. Keep the distractions that would otherwise lure you from your course. Keep your priorities straight.

The unreasonable goal is the goal that is out of reach no matter what resources you have available, Also that you or your employer set it to high for reach.

Beth;

I agree with you 100%, I often ask that same question to some of my students and most often the younger students kind of laugh it off not really taking it serious. I believe it's because they are still living at home and not having to worry about bills, but they really need to be taught at an early age on goals and what they should set for themself. I recently was invited to visit a high school and also to sit on a panel of Human Resource Analyst to discuss with the Juniors and Seniors what there goals/plans are after high school and also what to expect when they begin there careers. There were so many that had no glue about setting priorities, they just figured things would just be handed to them. Very sad, but true. I guess the point I was trying to make is that I don't feel enough of our schools are really preparing students for the future.

danialis,
yes & in looking at the goals you can also prioritize & hopefully that will help you move forward as well.

Hi Ryan,

I am currently the Manager of the Registrar Officce. An read about how prioritize the goals as a ranking A,B,C open me a completly new idea and how will be better to me to achieve my goal. In this officce I can said that everything is important but definitely I have Corporate Goals that I need to achieve.

Hi Kim,

I agree! In one of the classes I teach students are asked to describe where they want to be in life 5 or 10 years from now and it is disheartening to see how many of them simply have no idea. The older adult students do tend to have a clearer picture and specific career and salary goals for themselves but the younger ones just seem to have a very muddy picture of their futures. On one hand I do understand that. When you are just a teenager it is hard to know what you want or what all of the options even are. I do think that having classes in middle and high school on goal-setting would really do wonders for kids today and we might likely have more accomplished goal-setters and achievers entering the workplace as well.

Great points Kim

Sounds like a great tool. And I also applaud you for setting aside time every day to focus on goals. A regularly scheduled time is integral to achieving our goals.

Goal setting helps me stay on course. I set aside time everyday to focus on my goals.

Our institution is getting a new database. This SMART goal setting tool will come in handy when prioritizing goals for a stream lining reports functions out of our office.

Great points Kim. Goals really are a great way to help us maintain focus & intensity on where we want to go & help us eliminate those distractions.
