"If it's not broke why fix it!" If there are other ideas available that are working properly to achieve the same goals your school wish to accomplish then that's what research is all about! So research other schools' goals and revise to create a plan to accomplish your goals.
Yes, a key part of organizational success is being firmly & constantly aware of & in touch with what is going on in the surrounding environment, this includes with other schools.
