Good music or anything that makes you feel good is a way to reduce the stress and then return to the challenges.

Some distractions may be positive. This gives you the opportunity reload and respond.

I find this to be a great stress buster too. I also like to turn on music and listen to a great song to get me motivated and in a good mood.

When stress takes over your thoughts you may be to preoccupied to deal with other task. The best way to resolve this is to remove yourself by a timeout from the activity you are suffering from. Exercise or meditation could be the answer.

If you let stress build up your performance drops, you tend to be forgetful about deadlines that may be approching. Team members that have stress build up seem to be on edge and in negative moods.

Having a job that doesn't feel like a job but something you love is the best of all worlds. Good for you!

If you can remove yourself from any stress for a time to recoup your thoughts for a better logical decision. You are better with a strategic plan of action. Sometimes taking a time away from your high stress moment keeps us from making quick decisions.

This is often a cultural learned habit. Men often feel you can't cry in public and emotions are often kept inside. In certain cultures don't have this same belief. Would it be better for males to show their emotions in expressing their feelings.

Great question, Andrew! I tend to agree w/Jennifer. Women are "people-oriented" and often have a support network. Being a female, I notice we are prone to vent to friends or seek council. I think men keep a lot of frustrations to themselves.

Hi, Carolyn...I know what you mean about the hair falling out and dry skin. I did not realize how stressful my work was until I started seeing the physical signs. This was a wake-up call. Sometimes family and friends notice "changes" before the person does too.
Getting fresh air and walking the dogs is great! I do this every morning and try to remember "Man, nature is so beautiful and I am alive." Since part of my employment is home-based I walk away from my desk and play the drums for 20 minutes. It is both physical and mental!

Work for me is a stress buster because I enjoy not only the students but the sujects as well.

For me a stress buster is playing with my dogs and cat. Taking walks with my dogs and doing walking meditation at the same time.

Bad stress is not healthy for for you mental and physical state. You should always be aware of this type of stress. You can learn to divert and control the effects of this type of stress. Good stress is sometimes a way to avert the bad stress. Exercise which places physical stress on the body will relieve bad stress. Any calming activity will also help with stress such as walking, talking to a trusted friend, reading, listening to music, etc.

Control what you can control!

The reason you need to release stress is because of the fact that if you let stress levels add up in your life than it becomes a health factor that you may have to del with for the rest of your life. I found out the hard way, and now i have collitis

While stress makes us feel panic and disorder, it also makes us look that way. As a college instructor it is important to appear calm and collected during lecture and demonstration. Keeping my stress level at bay helps deliver my lesson plan in a thoughtful and seamless manner.

Your approach to stress is very healthy. There is both healthy stress and unhealthy. Stresses that create emotional and nervous anxiety is not conducive to our mental health. Without your healthy activity would result in lower immunity etc. It is always good to keep your bad stresses in a healthy perspective.

I agree with how we deal with stress is our savior. There are ways to de-stress our lives that may seem to simple to try that we over look them. Simply stopping, taking a few deep breaths and just letting the exhale carry alittle of the stress away can greatly effect your productivity. I myself will do this on daily basis as well as get regular massages, meditation and daily exercise. And don't be afraid to talk out your stressors. Talking things out in a safe enviroment can be one of the best destressors you may want to use.

stress fogs the mind. if we can release stress we can think clearer, feel better and be more productive. we can get rid of unnecessary worry and focus our energy on everything we need to so we don;t get out of control.

Emotional stress with potenial bad consequences is often harmful stress. If stress is from trauma, personal, or a death in a family with long term effects could cause health problems. I am sure you have heard of the spouse who lost their spouse to disease or accident often doesn't live to much longer after their long term mate. The sorrow, heartbreak, lonelyness creates undue pressure and stress.

Loss of work, hostile work environment, spousal relationship that is non-supportive, depression etc. oftens will be carried over into all aspects of the day to day activities.
