Stress
We can all agree that we all have stressors in our daily lives. Both in our personal lives and in our business/work lives. It's important to know how to deal with the stress. Like "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff". Some stress is good, like the stress that makes us want to be more competitive or more productive. Makes us rise to the challenge. Then there is the negative stress that can make us unhealthy. The chronic stress. Daily exercise, visualization techniques... work for me. I also enjoy listening to music. Depending on what I'm feeling at the time determines what kind of music I listen to. You need to find what works for you and then use that technique to deal with your stress. Maybe for some, it can be a bubblebath or a long walk.... Learn for yourself what works and use it.
Sometimes stress needs some professional help. It sounds like you have constant worries. It is obvious to us that what ever the worries us passes and we keep going. It is the necessity to recognize our lives continue. You are an intelligent person and am sure you have done the best you can on any of the issues you have mentioned. You have found a distraction that helps with your stress in your jewelry. Good for you. It is important you structure your life with balance in exercise, good health habits, mental leisure activity and spiritual rejuvenation.
I am one of those people that constantly worries about something:small things or big things. It's always something. At school I worry about my program, students, lesson plans, attendance, etc. At home about bills, weather, my kid being late few minutes..., but like Pauline I found that taking care of my garden (when the weather allows) is a big help. Meditation doesn't work for me, because I cannot stay still for too long, but making jewelry is something that takes my mind away from all the stress and worries.
Carl,
There is negative stress and positive. From what you have been explaining it looks like negative stress. You always have to be seasoned in stress management to deal with the negative side. it can be done but your consistency to deal with this will help.

I have been the kind of person who is more irritated/stressed by the small issues or things that are common sense being overlooked by someone. For some reason big issues or events do not bother me as much (i.e. car accidents, unexpected disruptions to an event I planned, etc.). I appreciated reading your post.
Pauline,
I applaud you for having an outlet. We all need some form of escape from the deadlines and stress. To each is own for what that is for each of us. It can be a hobby of reading, exercise, gardening etc. It is a balance in your life that makes it all work.

Gardening works to help relieve some stress for me.especially when I have lots of deadlines, lesson plans, and professional development assessments to complete.
Randy,
Crisis management is usually one of the big things. Having a plan for potential crisis will relieve the stress over the small things and large.

I have found that the saying "dont stress the small things" is actually harder then not stressing the big stuff.I feel that the "big stuff" I have no control over and that my actions in the past or actions leading up to the moment of stress will determine the outcome, almost like leaving it in the hands of fate where as the small things usally just come up unexpectedly and Im not prepaired so they need immediate resolution.
Nancy ,
Knowing the things that soothe your stress and make you stronger are great to use. When these work well for you they can build you self esteem and character by returning the stress refreshed and stronger.
