Bringing Personal Stress into the Workplace

The hardest thing for me regarding stress management is keeping my personal stress at home. I know bringing it to work with me probably lowers my productivity, which is unfortunate for my workplace because my stress has very little to do with work. I am continuing to work on leaving my worries at home in the morning, and staying work focused at work!

Nancy,
Your time management planning is good for your stress. It seems you have done this practice. The next step is to prepare yourself for stress. This is a way of conditioning your self by leading a balanced life that calms your nerves and emotions. The balance consists of good healthy life style with good eating habits, exercise, recreation, mental activity that relaxes you and spiritual rejuvenation. When you can include these in your life you can cope much better with stress.

My biggest stress issues are in my personal life as well instead of in my workplace. I have found that being very well organized and writing down a schedule of my daily activities helps me be less stressed. I also do what is suggested in this course and prepare for the following day the night before as much as I possibly can. At least this allows me to have a stress free morning so I can show up to work and not bring my personl issues into the classroom with me.

Rochelle,

We are objects of habit and thinking we can leave personal problems at home or work problems at work doesn't work very well. What we need is the abiltiy to practice techniques that will lessen the strain. When we lead a balance life with good health habits, exercise, mental pleasure activitiy and spiritual rejuvenation we can cope better with the baggage we carry around.

I notice this happens vice versa for me also. I tend to bring the work stress home and it's never pretty

Richard,
This is always a problem for employees. As a leader it is important to recognize these symptoms and come to some solution for intervention. We all have this issue at times in our life but the secrets of stress relief techniques work.

yes I agree with you ,bringing stress from home to the working place increases the load of stress that we have to manage at work that is already enough for us,it makes you more susceptible to the working environmen frictions, less apt to take the best decisions and as you say the productivity is lower

Kate,
We need to realize when we have stress from home it is often brought to work. The best team at work is the one you can trust and help you with support.
