Offering online courses would enhance our student base by offering a reasonably priced class that would have no boundries for student access. Markety the institute and contemporary theory to a broader student base. Set the institute above the competition by being the first to offer classes via the internet.

Reach a larger demographic student base.
Offer reasonably priced classes that are affordable to more students.
Develop a population of continuing education students.
Markeing tools for our degree programs.
Because there is a lack of online courses in this field.

At our Institute we are seeing an influx of younger students who have small children and the online learning makes their education objectives more attainable.

I do not feel that online learning is necessarily easier.

I have taken several onlines classes and actually they require more time and thought in the online discussion aspect of them.

By offering online courses / webinars the Institute would have the ability to reach a specific demographic base of students who may or may not have the ability to study contemporary psychoanalytic theories due to the expense of traveling to California.

Through the online introduction we would hope to build or Psy.D & Ph.D. weekend candidate program by providing foundation courses.

Some of the better benefits that online courses can offer are, unquestionably, flexibility, where you can set up your pace according to your daily chores and schedules.

I think another benefit is the convenience to access your classes from just about anywhere there is an internet connection.

This type of course allows for flexibility for the student to learn at their own pace and to utilize a self directed approach to learning. On line courses for base content provide the student the ability to effectivly budget their time to fulfill basic course content without attending on site classroom theory.

My institution is interested in developing an online program because of the wide market that we encompass. We are located in East Texas and currently have students that drive two plus hours and hundreds of mile to come to class. Allowing for an online program would reach those who have the functionally to attend online classes without the added expense from traveling 2-4 times a week to campus.

Some of the reasons institutions are offering online courses and programs include the ability to increase and institutions enrollment as well as to provide flexibility to students and to establish an online presence for themselves.

My school does not have a online yet, but in planning for growth we are now looking at implementing one.

Institutions are offering online programs and courses for many reasons:

1.Convenience for working adults with a desire to earn college education.
2.Increase revenue without the hassle of building new class rooms.
3.Importance of providing technology skills to students.
4.In the case of online courses, provide communication and learning between students and professor outside the class room.
5.To be competitive in today’s educational market.

Online course will give us the ability to reach potential students that are no in our on-the-ground area. They will also allow us to be accredited and obtain better funding mechanisms.

1) to expand the reach of their programs to more students
2) to offload general courses from expensive classrooms to allow for more specialized lab
3) becasue other schools offer it

our interest lies in making our program more accessible to more students when it is convenient for them. they will still need to be in readince to do the hands on portion of the program, but having an online component could reduce this time by perhaps 40%, this could cut our delivery costs, save students money and time, and allows us to graduate a larger number into the workforce, thereby pleasing the employers we work with.

1. We are a technical institution and offering online general education classes will allow our students to get an Associate Degree which will allow them competitive.
2. Online courses allow us as an institution to outsource some of the education without having to expand our existing campus.

I think the main reason would be to stay competitive in the college world today. Many schools are starting to offer courses online and these are very appealing to students/adults who live busy lives and can't fit the normal student school schedule into their life.

1. It allows for a more flexible student schedule especially for mature students that work and have family obligations.

2. It is a convenient delivery option compared to the classroom especially for students who do not have transportation, or do not live within proximity.

3. It is necessary because it introduces students to a new and widely embraced style of learning. This is the information/Internet age and students who are not exposed to it will suely be left behind.

Students need to be aware of other types of educational opportunities besides traditional on ground courses.

To be more competitive and because others do too!

There are a variety of reasons why we offer online programs at our school.

1. Our school has grown at an extremely rapid rate and we are pretty much landlocked in terms of providing more classroom space. We have added additional programs in the last year that have been very successful, and we need to dedicate the classrooms as much as possible to labs or classroom settings that require hands on work.

2. Because of the makeup of our student body, flexibility is a major concern for our students. Although we offer day, afternoon and evening classes, and in some instances night and weekend classes, many of our students cannot be held to a rigid schedule due to family and work concerns.

3. With the addition of our AAS and BS programs, students needed the option to be able to achieve their degrees while working in the field that they were trained in with our diploma program. Online education makes that simpler for them.

There have already been a lot of great answers!

We have the opportunity to bring the specialized course material to under-served areas. Many schools are closing and it is more important than ever to bring the school into the present and future.

I was not aware that competing with other schools was the most important factor. The university has already implemented the distance education program and we are working our courses into it. We would probably not go through the expense of hosting a platform but will utilize the one established for our school program.

Institutions offer online courses and programs because it attracts the retention for the most part of students wishing to complete their education on their own time. Although this strategy is very effective for many, there are many students as well who would not be able to take advantage of this because they either would not be disciplined or may think they can complete all their assignments last minute. Online programs are very helpful because of the fact that more student interaction can occur whereas a physical campus seldomly do students want to raise their hand so class can finish sooner and they can leave. It is enough to get a student to get to class.

With online courses, students can really explore and take their time in a time-constraint fashion where they can really let others know what they know and share information that may be relevant to others that would not otherwise speak up in class. Another important tidbit is that many exams are graded automatically so this puts a lesser burden on professors who have other jobs and responsibilities and can have assignments graded right away without taking much more time from other tasks and things they have to attend to.
