I have discoverd that I will have to take this exam every year.
I have placed just about everything I learned in module 1 in my note book, however, I wonder will I have to take this assesment every year since the coarse does mention to update information?
The resource notebook it's highly recommended and to some extent mandatory due to all the different information that you have and need to know as an Admissions Agent. It is required to have easy access to all the information a student may ask. You may have an idea of what an answer might be, but it's very important to base it on facts and make sure you give the right information at all times. The notebook gives you the opportunity to have different tabs and easy access to any information you might need. You might want to request a notebook and place in there the catalog and all useful information you have and can think of. You may add information as you go along depending on what type of information you are required most by the students. Good luck as an agent! Wish you the best.
I was not aware I needed all this information in the resource notebook. This training showed me all i needed to put on it.
Marci,
Excellent! Make sure to add current aads and slicks to see what your clients are seeing,
I'm a new admissions agent and i really want to know if this is a mandatory thing you have to do or is it optional? If so, how often do you have to update your notebook? Does your employer give one and you just add to it, or its the admissions agent responsibility to start one?
I have added my rules for the school into my notebook including agreement.
Information for the resource book will include:
Chapter 1005, Florida Statutes
Chapter 6 E, Florida Administrative Code Commission Rules
Institution Catalog
Enrollment Agreement
Marketing materials
Institutional policies
Procedures manuals
Employee manuals
Student manuals
Organization chart
I was aware of the rules and and regulations that our instituion must abide by, as this would be my second year as a licensed agent. In particular, reviewing Chapter 6 E section 2.010 was very useful. It was great to review the rules and regulations as well as to obtain direct links to FLDOE and FL Statutes.
The resource notebook includes FL Statute 1005, CIE Rule 6E,and various information about the academic institution to include: history, program offerings, tuition, policies, and enrollment agreement. Agents need to ensure they are only using university-approved material. After reading the definition of advertising, I realized the importance for agents not to design their own marketing material. Everything must be approved to ensure it meets the institution's and CIE's criteria. Proper terminology is also important when distinguishing between a program, a course, or a class. While reading the Rules, I had a question. What address is used if an online university does not have a physical campus in Florida? Would it be the residence of their agent working in the state?
I was not aware that the CIE governed the institution's faculty. While I knew that at least half of faculty teaching masters-level programs needed terminal degrees, I did not realize this was based upon a CIE requirement.
Ana,
Compliance is the number one priority!
Ana,
The advertising slicks and other marketing materials are very important and make an immediate connection with your prospective student.
Regulations are very important in the Resume Notebook ..and this course is very instructive about regulatory laws and compliance issues..!
In my Resource Notebook I have principally ads and marketing materials, also the current catalog of the School and last but not least my business card. :)
Carlos,
This is a very regulated industry with consumer protection first.
Christopher,
Excellent idea!
I learned it is a highly regulated industry therefore we must inform ourselves on a constant basis to be up to date with procedures
I have two resources: a physical binder that helps me locate rules and regulations, documents, facts, and institution information; and a digital version with the links for the most up to date rules and regulations from the Florida Commission for Independent Education.
Susan,
Don't forget to add the "Rules" or Florida Administrative Code Chapter 6-E. I would also suggest advertising slicks and copies of print ads that your prospective students are seeing.
The Resource notebook will be critical to have as it would be very difficult to other wise remember everything that we are learning and discussing. The Florida statutes are very specific and it is a great reference tool to have this information organized in a binder for future reference.
I have the Florida Statues and the CIE requirements. I also have a school Catalog, organizational chart, names, numbers and titles of each department manager within the institution. I will continue to add resources to this notebook as I progress through the course so I always have it close by to refer to.
Mereny,
The enrollment agreement is a contract with your institution and the student. Making sure the document is properly completed and fully understood by the signing parties.
