Marketing Strategies
Since marketing strategies are changing so often, what is a common strategy that continues to be proven successful? And why?
Shanley,
You just can't beat the personal touch! We like to be recognized and recognized as individuals.

I believe reaching your markets can be done electronically, but some will have a more personal experience by direct impact in person-to-person methods. The tone of your voice, the excitement that your institution can bring to a future student, the visual aids used and your voice to back up the facts is very powerful. Open houses are a great idea, as well as going to local high schools, career fairs, community events, etc.. that specifically focus on your current targeted audience.
Ruth,
People like to see pictures of themselves and others that they know. Great marketing!
Ruth,
Bring a Friend to school day is an opportunity to share their experiences with friends and give you an opportunity for leads.
Ruth,
Social networking is a powerful tool today.
Facebook is great for capturing attention quickly.
We have had great success with bringing a friend to school day as well as having interested prospective students spend a day as part of our "community". The students are the best able to answer all the specific questions and learning a little about the subjects almost always peaks interest.
We have had great success with visuals of our students - because they look like real/relatable people and aren't as "polished" looking as professional actors. The cost is also more in alignment with our budget!
Bring a friend to school day is a fantastic idea.
Lola,
We only have a few seconds to capture their attention. Websites need to be designed with the user in mind.
The first step for many prospective students is an internet search to a school. Informative, user-friendly websites that capture a school's essence are key.
I agree! , I think the testimony of current and graduates students is greatly influence for the recruitment of new students, and also, the media, highlighting the internet, radio and Tv.
Melanie,
For visual testimonials, it is about using real people, not actors!
I agree that testimonials are probably the most effective way to promote a positive image. Many students I have worked with are very anxious to hear about how other students have succeeded.
Alexandra,
A very informative and indepth post. Thank you!
Anita,
You only have a few seconds to catch someone's attention. Think of how many minutes we spend listening to the radio!
Nicholas,
