role model

Since you are always in an educational envirotment, you must be a good role model to others in order to not only gain their respect but to also be able to teach them to act professional when they enter their occupations once they've graduated.

joanna,

As school personnel, we are guides to their careers. Being a role model should be part of every interaction with the students.

i agree we have to be role model for the students seen alot of them dont have who to look upto...

Esterina,
We are all role models, especially in professionalism and work ethic.

I Completly agree with this statement because pursuing an education requires a persons time and money, and can lead to a great career as well as inquire debt. In most cases students look to us as an example of where they want to be.

Bryan,
It also about retention! Having great admission numbers but it is also about completion and placement.

I've had many scheduled tours which result by the visitor stating a remark such as "you sold me, great tour" Even though many of us like this response, I make it clear to them that I'm simply giving them the facts and differnences between what our college has to offer as well as what others offer. I always conclude by telling them this is an important decision and they should tour other facilities to make sure this is the right fit for them. Obviously enrollment numbers are important for a educational facility to survive in todays economy but it is equally important that the prospective student is enrolling for the right reasons not just to achieve a degree.

Bryan,
Good advice!
