Grouds for denial, probation, or revocation
It is good to have this information about the grouds for denial.
Huichi,
There must be a clear process outlined in the catalog including the grievance procedure.
Patty Aronoff
I personally think it's a good to have them, since it spells out what needs to be done, and what the consequences are for not following procedures.
Sara,
Very good advice! It is better to say let's find out than to mislead and break the law.
Patty Aronoff
In addition to never omitting information, it is important that an admissions rep never guesses an answer to a question that a prospective student has. I would rather be up front and say "I am not sure of the answer to your question, but I WILL find out for you" then make up some information just to answer the question. I know it is important to sound knowledgeable, but it's of no help to the student if they are given potentially wrong information. Seeking additional information not only helps me to correctly answer the student's question, but it gives me the opportunity to learn and grow more as a rep.
William,
Absolutely! Transparency is key and withholding information is misleading the student, strictly against Florida law.
Patty Aronoff
Omitting information is not only misleading as well as against the laws of FLorida; but detrimental to your institution and your job. It is essential to the integrity of your institution and your job you represent to completely inform, answering all questions and information to the best of your ability.
Elizabeth,
You bring an important point to the table. Omitting information is misleading and against the laws of Florida.
When the GAO (Government Accountability Office) was conducting an undercover investigation of colleges, I've known of a college to have received an infraction due to the fact the admissions advisor didn't state the whole truth. He/She didn't lie, but left some parts out of the explanation. It's a good reminder that we have to be careful of what we say, and in this case, what we don't say. Having all important explanations on sheets that can be referred to by the admissions advisor as well as by the student, is one step to ensuring compliance is met. I believe this was covered in our training as well.
Gloria,
Grounds for denial is a commission action based upon cause.
