Proper Admissions Tactics
I'm very happy to see the efforts being put forth in training admissions by strict guidelines. I really hope that the different accreditors and state/federal governments help to hold school accountable to for the integrity of their school and programs. This section was very informative. I live the idea of the resource notebook & am looking forward to the following sections
Colleen,
Full transparency is the best practice. Every question should be answered and all information provided.

kate,
Fair consumer practices is the onlyway to do business. Honesty, integrity, and knowledge guides us.

Isabel,
It is prohibited by Florida law to promise job placement. Florida schools are required to provide placement assistance.

Admissions personnel must always be forthrite in their actions--simply put...be open and honest.
This is a good idea, someone needs to keep the system safe. It is up to all of us as individuals to lead our students safely and honestly through the admission process.
Prior to these rules and guidelines, for profit as well as not for profit schools of this nature were promising potential students job placements as well as limiting financial information. These references or lack of them did not allow prospective students to make educated decisions whether the school was right for them. By supplying accurate and honest information, the prospective student will judge the school by higher standards and will be happy with their school and courses.
Kimberly,
They cannot promise or guarantee. It is against the education laws for fair consumer practices.
Patty Aronoff
That is true. So many schools that have stated they guarantee job placement or outright jobs have been sued. Always better to be upfront and honest. The prospects appreciate the candor.
daniel,
Definitely both! Florida is a consumer protection state and requires that no misleading information. Overall, ethically we should always be truthful.
Patty Aronoff
i definitely agree with all of you.. in my opinion misleading or guaranteeing an outcome is not only against compliance but also a disservice to the prospective student
Christina,
Having that good feeling comes with trust, honesty, and ethical behavior. When we do not abide by these basic tenets, we have opened the door for noncompliance, dishonesty and loss.

Jessica,
It is an often used excuse. By proving them with the catalog along with the enrollment agreement, we are providing them the most comprehensive set of guidelines for your school. When they sign the enrollment agreement, they are signing that they hav received and read the catalog.

I think proper admissions tactics are crucial to the public image of your particular institution. If you are forthcoming, knowledgable and trustworthy a student's overall experience is heightened and therefore, they will feel confidant in recommending your institution to their family and friends.
I agree as well. As an admissions rep, I have always tried to be very forthcoming with information. I believe we all need to be in order for the students understand everything from the beginning of the process to graduation. I always hated when students would say, I didn't know this, I wasn't told this. If we are following the rules and giving correct information this shouldn't happen as much.
I agree with Amanda, it's been my personal experience that some institution, outside of Florida, was not as forthcoming in divulging or sharing certain information; especially financial information. It's great to see that there are measures in place, within Florida, to ensure that the prospective student and institution are held to higher standards.
Amanda,
Thank you for your feedback. The states generally follow the same rules as well as the accrediting bodies. They have the same basic interests.
