I agree Patty it is important for them to research accreditations themselves. At our institution some of our students follow up their BSN degree with a Masters. We are always forthcoming with the students to make sure if they are planning on further education to make sure the college they are planning on attending will take our accreditation. We do not want to be responsible for a student to attend and PAY for our school to only come to find out the college they planned on attending for their Masters will not accept our school accredidation.

Encourage the student to research accreditation on their own. Provide them the links to USDOE website and the accreditor's website. The need to understand what the accreditation of the degree or diploma means to them besides opportunity to seek financial aid.
