For Patty - Follow up on Admissions Test question

Patty,

Can you point to the specific section of the regs that discuss Admissions testing? The only reference that I can find is the following:

"Acceptable admission scores must be in accordance with the standards of the individual examination as it relates to the student program. These minimum test scores must be published in the current school catalog."

Thank you.

lori,
Whichever tests you use, there must be a policy in place for the minimum score achieved for entrance, how many attempts the student may take, etc. The same policy must be followed by everyone the same.

Hello, I just wanted to point out that the test for admission must be one that is approved or recognized by the US Department of Education. You also want to talk with your administrators to ensure that they are sure of what they want prior to admission. To state one score and then not hold it up for everyone will get you in trouble. Another topic would be to see if there is a standing policy on giving a student a time frame to complete the test. I know of a local public school who allows students who don't score a 11.0 on the TABE test to start as long as it is done by a certain time prior to the end of the program.

Melissa,
That is it! You found it. The regulations require that if an admissions test is given, it must be administered by a third party tester and the minimum requirements posted in the catalog. For example, the minimum score achieved to be admitted in the catalog. The regulations do not require specific testing per se, just that it be published.
