admissions
What is the different between enrolled and active student?
Reginal,
Excellent! Knowing when to count a student as a full-time enrollment is very important for enrollment reporting to the commission.

Thank you for the clarification Patty. At our institution we do two separate reconciliations- one at the end of week 1 and one at the end of week 3. For internal reporting purposes, they are only considered a new enrollment if they are still in class after week 3. So I assume they would be enrolled during the first 3 weeks, and active after that point.
Yes, tracking both metrics will assist with the overall process of the effectiveness of admissions.
Valerie,
Schools should track both metrics to determine the effectiveness of admissions.

Enrolled student means they have completed the enrollment process. Active students means they have completed enrollment process and attended class.
John,
Some schools allow students to sit in classes for a period of time (often 3 days) before being flipped to active status. Once they are active, they are counted as attending school.

Minerva ,
Enrolled means that the student has signed their contract with the school. The active student is one who has been admitted and started their program of study.

I WOULD RECOGNIZE AN ENROLLED STUDENT AS A NEW STUDENT AND AN ACTIVE STUDENT AS ONE WHO HAS COMPLETED THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS AND HAS REGISTERED AND HAS COMPLETED OR HAS CLASSES IN PROCESS. Sorry about the all caps, I did not realize they were on.
