Admissions Training
Even with years of experience it is a must to have anuual training to stay up to date with new practices and regulations. Would you agree that it is also a great way to share ideas and sales techniques with fellow admission representatives from different institutions?
Luis,
Creating that network is a great asset in the work that we do. We all have insight and sharing that information is "priceless."

Irais,
Sharing ideas is part of keeping informed and increasing our knowledge. I like to share experiences and see how others will handle. It provides great dialogue and gets others to think outside the box.

Trevor,
Best practices gives us guidelines with processes and working with students. We must always ensure that the regulations are followed to the letter.

Melissa ,
There are many ways to accomplish our goals, but you are exactly right in that we must always be compliant and ethical.

Melissa ,
Never guess...it is always better to ask and get the right information. If we give out incorrect information, it can be construed as misleading the student whether intentional or not.

Clarissa,
Great idea! Networking is part of our life today.
Patty Aronoff
Mark,
That is certainly the beauty of networking and making contacts in the industry. Our forums and lounge provide great opportunities to learn and discuss current topics.

I feel that it is very helpful and useful to interact with many different people that share the same responsibilities that I possess as a professional.
I agree. There is always room for learning. And it is always great to share ideas with others and see what the feedback will be.
Having worked for several different schools in the area, I echo this statement. There are many ways to be an effective, compliant, and ethical admissions representative. It is important to learn from others at your school and beyond, to ensure that you are using best practices when guiding students to the education that best serves their needs and expectations.
One of the most important things I have learned is there is more than one way to do something. Please keep in mind that you must remain compliant and ethical.
I have learned most of waht I know by asking and watching those who do it right 1 do it right the first time and if you dont know the answer ASK Never GUESS
I would love to learn how other fellow admissions representatives go about the process and how many times per year they have training. Also any courses offered in the Miami area that apply to our roles. It would be very interesting to form an "informal" meeting with some admissions representatives to share some insight.
