Agent Vs Representative

I felt like this wasn't clearly discussed in the overview. I know for our college the only title we are allowed to give is Representative, but the training uses the word Agent like the terms are interchangable.

Larina,

The two terms are often confused. The role is primarily the same but the place of business is different.

Patty Aronoff

This is a concise and simple clarification. Thank you.

Rahiem,
You are correct. Agents work outside the school and are licensed by the Commission to conduct business (complete enrollments) on behalf of the school.

Patty Aronoff

MONTFORT,
The agent is licensed by the Commission to work outside the school facility and the representative is not. They both conduct business on behalf of the institution.

I feel that agent and representative are two different things and i feel they have responsiblites all the same so i feel that is equal responsiblities as well .

I would tend to believe that their role can be interchangeable, which means the agent can fulfill both role. Sometimes, he/she can work in the office or this employee can be out in the field depending on the needs.

Does it make sense?

Alisha,

That's okay. The agent conducts business outside the campus. They are also required to be licensed by the Commission in order to operate on behalf of their school.

Patty Aronoff

Shawn,
The term agent is defined in rule. You have hit on the meaning. Agents must also be licensed by the Commission to operate in Florida.

Patty Aronoff

Alisha,
Agent is used for representatives that conduct business outside of the campus. They must abide by the rules and laws of the state of Florida.

Turns out the next module explains it more, so the question might be best suited for the following module or the definition better explained in this module.

As I understand it, the agents are described as something similar to an admissions representative, but they work away from the school in order to meet with prospective students in the student’s home or attend a recruiting events for the purpose of school enrollment. I am relatively comfortable with that, however it does seem to be a rather loose definition. I wonder if there is a more defined explanation?
