Marketing discussion.

How is keeping current in marketing strategies relevant to the ethical training of admissions staff?

I agree with Jennifer. In this day and age, marketing can be done in a variety of different ways including things like social media and word of mouth from others who have seen a poster, commercial, or billboard. I think it's important to keep the information simple and to the point so those who do tell others aren't giving out incorrect information about an institution.

Marie,
We need to understand and see what brings the students to our school. Reviewing marketing materials and understanding where the advertising is being presented, these are valuable discussion topics when the student comes to your school.

Keeping current in Marketing, helps you to make better decisions. Also, this is a key that can make you built expert power.

Yenniz,
In most cases, advertising is what brings the student to your school. Understanding what is being marketed and how it is marketed is critical in our interview process.

We have to know what is being advertised so that we can work properly with the prospective students

Jennifer,
I agree as well! One word either added or omitted can change the entire meaning of a sentence. This is where marketing has to be so detailed to the consumer so as not to mislead.

John ,

Marketing is the heart of admissions. Admissions representatives need to know what is being marketed and how.

Hey John I think this is a great question, especially in this day in age where most marketing is is done by social media. It is important to be mindful on how things are marketed and if certain words or omissions of certain words will cause someone to get the wrong information.

For prospective students marketing is the only thing a student has to get to know what the institution has to offer. There should be the most up to date information on whatever marketing material that is being handed out or posted. An institution should not promise things or market things that do not exist just to get a student interested or enrolled.

Having ethical training will deter from mistakes like this happening.
