The rules do apply!
IF you call yourself an Admissions Counselor, I would hope that you know the rules and regs of that state. It is so important to stay on top of changes, which seem to happen often in education. I really like the definitions page. that should be a part of the training process for sure. There are many people coming into this position (admissions), with no full knowledge of enrolling, and the rules that apply.
Bruce,
Definitions do not gain true meaning until they are put into practice.
Even people who have heard these words before and have a basic knowledge of their meaning need to read and understand the definition as laid out in the statutes or rules. The definition may be very broad or very narrow for that particular section.
Dale,
Definitions make sure we are all talking about the same thing.
I would say difinition is the key
Clay,
The rules set by the Commission set the standard. Schools can add additional requirements set by acccreditation requirements, VA, Title IV or corporate policy as long as they do not violate CIE.
Lorraine,
Agreed! I can't tell you how many students mix up accreditation and licensure.
Yes, rules are key and I did misunderstand the one question regarding rules and regulations varying from institution to the next, but they all still have to meet certain rules set up by the commission.
definitions to the rules are a must and they must be conveyed in a manner in which all students will understand exactly what is meant.
Tracy,
Definitions are key! Many prospective students have never heard of many of these terms and it is important that they understand them.
