Military Benefits
Can we include a slide in the multimedia presentation regarding military benefits and who qualifies
Kamal:
As well as there is also a VA rep assigned to your area through the State Approving Agency. They can help you with the education of VA Benefits.
Alyssa,
at our school each Department (Admissions, Student Services, Registration and Finance)has one individual who had to go through the training to become a School Certifying official. It is well worth it! If you ever get the opportunity to go through the training, you should take it.
Alyssa,
I would suggest that military beneits are available to those who qualify.
Thomas,
...and working with your VA rep.
Tou,
I would agree. VA benefits are very complicated and affect the financing of school.
Kamal,
Every situation is different.
Anita,
There is a VA rep assigned to your area through the State Approving Agency. Keep trying!
Its easier than you think if you go to this website http://gibill.va.gov/
This will provide you with all the guidance necessary.
Why yes Marcus, Active & Veteran branches of the Armed forces who are eligible for the Mongomery G.I. Bill (chap. 30) or Post 9-11 G.I. Bill (chap. 33) have different options available to them to use, also there is the Yellow ribbion program available at most schools. I suggest you set aside some time to speak with your Financial Aid Director on how these programs help service members.
Kamal, do you know of some of the different options available to the military students?
We offer VA benefits here. It is not an easy task to access these benefits. My job is to deal with the VA to get the benefits the students deserve. I can never seem to get a VA rep to come to our school to keep me updated on all the changes.
That should be handled on a case by case basis, since it is a selective group that have different options available to them.
As helpful as that would be, getting detailed training on military benefits should be more of a financial aid matter. Prospective students might get the wrong perception that they may qualify for more aid than they actually do. Each financial aid dept should already have a VA rep that would be the go-to person when dealing with complicated military benefit issues.
