Schools that advertise job

I see many signs that advertise jobs along with the name of the college...is this out of compliance? Also, many schools advertise on job websites.

Woei,

Absolutely! The Commission specifically states that advertising must be under "education" not "jobs."

This has happened to me on numerous occasions: I search an online job-site for jobs, find one that looks promising, applied, and the next thing I know, my phone is inundated with calls by agents from that company (usually a school), who will try to sign me up for one of their courses...surely, some CIE laws have been violated here!!!

Helmi,

Personally developed leads are rewarding on so many levels. The satisfaction of one person is valuable.

I love referals...When a student gives yo a referal, you know you did right by the student.

Vanessa,

This is the same reason Florida law regulates the advertising for the schools. There are no guarantees.

I dont agree with schools posting jobs for students. We all know that jobs out there arent great and telling a student to enroll and earn a degree in the institution isnt going to guarantee an actual job. Therefore, schools shouldnt advertise any jobs for students nor tell them they are guaranteed getting a job.

Allyson,
That is clearly against CIE regulations.

such a sore subject. ALL of our comptetitors violate the job placement portion of schooling and promise jobs, etc. makes it hard to explain why WE can't guarantee when all the competitors advertise and say they do :(

Felicia,
It does make you very proud that your students are recommending your school to others. It is statement that you are successsful!

Felicia,
The best advertisement is a personal referral. Students rely on that information.

Heather,
Absolutely that is an advertising violation. Rule is clear that they must be separate in order to not mislead.

Greg,
That would be an advertising violation with CIE. We can not guarantee employment.

That's a very interesting statement. While it's true that you may advertise, all advertisement must be documented and included in your paperwork along with any other advertisement the school participates in.

I agree it's great to advertise. However, that can get you into trouble if you are offering job placement with these salons as a guarantee of employment. No one can guarantee a student will be hired at an establishment. To do so in my opinion, is out of compliance.

I like our school because a large population of our students or obtained through referrals from graduates from the school.
