Unlicensed Institutions being allowed to operate

What is the state doing about all the unlicensed institutions that are operating illegally in the state of Florida? Why is it the most of us continue to follow all the rules and regulations, pay all the fees associated with the CIE and do continuing education classes while other unregulated institutions are free to operate as they please even after continued complaints to the state and CIE for years? How is this fair?

Sean,
That is a great practice! When they repeat it back to you, you quickly determine whether they understand the information.

I agree. I really make sure that the students know that information and actually have them restate it to me. That way I am able to monitor my delivery and if the key components came across during the prospective interview. I actually highlight the brochure section.

Karen,

It seems very unfair but this is where consumers need to be very informed about their investment. Never assume, investigate and be informed.

Austin,

The Commission has a process within the legal system in Florida to cease and desist illegal operations in Florida. The state attorney's office is an active painter in these efforts. Citizens of Florida can contact either agency in regards to illegal operations or myflorida.gov

This seems to be very unfair to students. I have worked with so many students that have a certificate or an associates degree from a nationally accredited junior college or career college. It would be fine if the students fully understood that they might not be able to use those credits at a regionally accredited University. Sometimes there are dire financial implications that cause a student not to be able to afford to achieve a bachelor's degree using student loans.
