Knowledge is Power

When speaking with a prospective student and or family members, the more information you can share at the time of the enrollment proccess will make for an easier transition for that student. Remembering all along this is a huge decision for them as well as the school.

Russ,

From my years of experience in admissions, I would not neccessarily agree with the "more information you can share" is a safe way to go.

Admissions is not about 'information dumping'.

It is about informing the student on key facts about the school that is required by law...but more importantly tell them the information that they individually need in order to make an educated and informed decision.

Every student will want to learn different things about the specific school. Individualied information sharing is a better route to go compared to just information dumping on everyone.

My two cents.

Tom

I agree with you Russ, we should treat our student with respect and take the time to help them like we would want our sons/daughters/nieces/nephews etc. With pride and integrity just as if you worked for an Ivy League school. If all reps did this it would be a great foundation for any and all schools.

Michelle ,

So many go home and go back over everything again. They discuss the decision with others as this is a big deal. They must understand fully.

I totally agree. The more information that we provide to our students and families, without hitting "information overload" is key to our success. Between our Admissions Spaecialists and our Admissions Representatives our students and families get the much needed information for the Admissions Process. By going over all paperwork during an Information Session, each student leaves readily prepared to continue the admissions process with confidence and little confusion.

Ron,

The communication link should be strong and always available. Students count on admissions to provide them the information they need.

Patty Aronoff

The key to informing applicants is to educate them about your program, including the curriculum, courses, tuition, etc.. The sooner we communicate with students, the better.

Russ,
They rely on us for the information they need to make important decisions. The truth will always prevail.

Patty Aronoff

Russ,
We really do change lives. I have pictures of graduates posted in my office to remind me of the fact that we travel the journey together.

Patty Aronoff

I agree 100% The more confident and upfront we are the more comfortable the students are.

I have a niece in her senior year at Stanford completing a Masters in Genetics. I speak with students with her in mind, knowing the importance admissions has played at OSU and Stanford.

Emma,

Knowledge is power and seeking knowledge about the school starts with admissions. We need to give hem the best information to make their decision.

Patty Aronoff

Russ,

We must remember that for the most part, the information that we provide is all new to them. By placing ourselves in their position, we recognize the importance of thoroughness and patience.

Patty Aronoff

Yes. THe more you know about the policies and rules and regulation not only for the Dept of Ed but also your own school is a MUST. When prospective students come in along with ther family they definatly want to feel comfortable in knowing that all their questiions were answered and to know that the school has knowledge..
