Student Refund policies
Why is it that so many students are caught with Pell overpayment and only know of this when they are trying to transfer to other institution.

Student awareness of their financial obligations is an important part of the admissions/financial aid interviews. Students need to make monthly payments and after school is over, take charge of their repayment.

What I've noticed sometimes is that when a student is doing their annual FAFSA they really don't care to much about the Pell because, as you said, it's free money. Also, I've noticed that sometimes the exit interview with a student doesn't happen because or the student simply drops, or they really don't care to know how much they owe even though this will affect their credit and how much money they have left to receive to continue to study.

Ooooooh no. It is unfortunate as there are many people that could benefit in their education with such a grant.

Sadly i have witnessed this...using grant money to buy a new XBOX

Maybe because Pell money is a grant which does not have to be repaid. Those students are just looking for another check.
