Going Paperless!
In an effort to reduce paper use (and storage!) our institution uses electronic methods whenever possible. I email the catalog and handbook to students. We market online instead of using mailers. And our students will soon be singing enrollment agreements on iPads with a stylus. Less waste, less clutter, more trees!

Roger,
Scanning is the same as having the originals. Just keep a second copy to the electronic copy.

I think this is a great idea. I have started to do the same as well. We are scanning everything in to reduce paper and storage as well.
My question is this... In keeping track and records of student files after completion, is it ok to keep the files fully digital or do we have to have a paper copy for the alloted amount of years?
If everything was scanned in and then backed up on a server would that be okay?
Laura,
Electronic signatures are acceptable today in our world of technology and the Internet. Appropriate safeguards must be in place in ensure consumer protection.
Patty Aronoff
Are esignatures considered an acceptable form of signature for an enrollment agreement?
Autumn,
Technology certainly has its advantages. I love the reduction of paper aspect.
