Representative's Responsibility
On quiz 2, there is a question about the admissions representative's responsibility that states if the representative was not informed about some changes made by the institution or regulatory bodies it is not her/his responsibility. My question is, how can the representative have responsibility about some changes which nobody informed her/him about?
Tamiko,
We always need to be proactive. There is no excuse today for not knowing. You must seek knowledge as it does not come knocking on your door.
Patty Aronoff
I believe it is our job as an admission representative to be proactive and check online resources available daily/weekly. In the long run it only protects us as well as the institution.
Amilcar,
Ask the questions! Absolutely! Florida law does not make exception because someone was not informed. It is expected that you do so.
Patty Aronoff
Amilcar,
It is the responsibility of the Director of Admissions or Director of Recruitment to keep everyone informed.
Patty Aronoff
It is resposiblity of both the school and the rep to get informed about any changes the institution has made. I dont think there is any reason why the rep should say he/she was not informed because there is always talk about anything new that the institution is doing. If she/ he has any question, doubts or concerns speak directly to your DOR.
Angelika ,
The rules protect both the school and student. It's about honesty, ethics, and best business practices.
Patty Aronoff
I do understand that sometimes it can be difficult but if you want to make sure that your school is making it, then it is your responsibility too to make sure that they follow all rules and regulations which also includes any changes. Otherwise you will find yourself one day without a job as your school loosed their licensure. The school will be very happy if you take on that responsibility.
Avery,
The educational sector that we are in is ever changing. We must constantly try to be knowledgeable and better at what we do.
Patty Aronoff
Staying up to date and in compliance is what we should be doing every day not just once a month. It is the climate now more than ever of our work that we do in admissions.
Amanda,
We all should be proactive in keeping current with regulatory and industry changes. Sharing this information keeps everyone informed.
Patty Aronoff
I suppose it is the Respresentatives responsibility to be Self informed and actively seek the most up to date information about the schools information. They mentioned earlier that the rep should be checking the FL Commission for Independent Education website atleast once a month for any updates
