Financial Aid (Department)
For a small institution, I am seeing that our Admissions Representative(s) must also handle Financial Aid, as we have not hired Financial Aid Personnel thus far.. Surely it cannot be a requirement that a Financial Aid 'Department' or 'Officer' be in place for an Institution of our size..
Natalie,
FA is very important in the admissions process. They must be very knowledgeable.

I am located in a smaller school as well, but we are accredited ...meaning that we do have a Financial Aid Office, which I am truly grateful for... they go above and beyond to help all our students. Some of the stories I have heard about FA offices are horrible and probably one reason we have as many students as we do
Angelika ,
You would refer the student to a third-party lender. Many banks. credit unions, and other financial institutions offer loans to students in gaining their education.

Our school is new therefore we offer only financial assistance. Is there anything in particular that we have to look out for. Where could we refer our students to if necessary as we cannot give financial aid.
JOSE,
In most cases, that the the norm. Having a subject matter expert in financial aid speak with the student separately is considered a best practice.

we dont discuss fincial aid with our prospect I refer them to that department
Bruce,
For small institutions, it can be a challenge. When you find the right person, they will make your school soar!

Jennifer,
Are you speaking of Federal Financial Aid? Or financial assistance? Check with the requirements of your accreditor for their requirements as well.

For small institutions it can be difficult. Finding dynamic employees that can handle multiple roles efficiently is crucial for their success.
