Hard copies and computer back up
I understand that going paperless is a great idea, but hard copies will always be a sure way of preparing for unforseen events related to computer problems. I remained convainced tht we have to have a practie of having both hard copies of files and back up computer files to be prepared forany eventuality.
Rita,
I like having electronic copies is well. The reasons that you state it does provide access and we do not have to worry about losing anything,

Our system is not paperless and I long for it to be. My personal feeling is that if documents are scanned and stored electronically there is much less of a chance of misplacing them...and it allows multiple users to access the docs easily. So my hope is that our institution will one day move to an electronic filing system. I agree that storing the hard copies is a good back up plan.
I agree that paperless files are a great idea, but I believe that having a hands on copy of all documents is much more efficient. Everything has a place, and everyone knows where to find certain information. That way, nothing gets lost and you do not have to deal with computer issues or moving electronic files from one folder to another.

Alexis,
Yes, it is always a great deal to take advantage of technologies and identify the risks so that we can prevent it if unforseen issues happen.
To save time and money, we will process all the adminstration process on computer. Of course, we will make sure all data is secured and backup daily or weekly depends on changing of data.
I will use your comment as one of methods of back up. Thank you for sharing your comment.
FERLINE,
For many, the technology side brings many advantages, but paper has its own set. Do what works best for you.
