Transfer Credits from an Accredited Institution
As an Admission Rep - It is important for students not only to inquire if the current school they are deciding to enroll in is accredited, but also if they are planning on submitting transfer credits - if that institution is accredited as well.
rolando,
Exactly! Stick to the process and policy as outlined in the catalog. It is the best way to handle it. Most schools will have the Director of Education or the Registrar review. If it is a VA student, it would be reviewed by the VA representative in FA.

Answering questions about transfer credits can be a tricky situation. Sometimes, in our efforts to be helpful, we may give out information that may not be the most accurate.
It is my opinion, that as an admissions rep, we let Academics make the call on credits the University will accept even if we think it will. I always say, we are happy to look at your transcript, however I don't make the final decision. I would prefer to have a Dean take a look at your transcripts.
Jennifer,
Transfer credit policy will vary from institution to institution. Some schools do not accept any transfer credits. Be sure to learn your particular school's process and policy.

Not all credits transfer despite the school accrediatiion. Some school will only accept credits from a regionally accrediated school. so even if the student attended at national accrediited school the transfering school will not accept those credits. It is in the best interest of the student to assume that credits will not transfer. If they are continuing their education choosing regionally accredited school is the safest bet.
Colleen,
Often it is hard to look to the future of where they will be after they finish their education with you. But, it is something they need to do if they are interested in continuing on after graduation.
