It's important to use the right verbiage in regards transfer credit to prevent any miss understanding. The correct way is : Transfer credit are base on the receiving institution.

The transfer of credits is a topic that comes up many times when discussing school enrollment. It is important to inform the student that the transfer of their credits is at the discretion of the receiving institution. An evaluation/audit needs to be done on the student transcript before any transfer of credit can be guaranteed. Make sure not to mislead or misinform your students on this topic.

It is the responsibility of the student to request a review of transfer credits. This should be done at the time of enrollment and provide the required official documents for review.

I would first tell the prospective student that it is up to the recieving institution to decide if the credits will transfer. Also,you could tell the student to bring in a copy of unaficial transcripts so the Director of Admissions can take a look at them to see for sure what could be done.

That is the normal practice. The only way to truly review is with those two documents. Make sure the transcript is official and arriving in a sealed envelope.

When a prospective student is looking to transfer credits in, besides the correct verbiage, I always encourage them to get an unofficial evaluation of their transcript, which will give them an estimate of credits transferred. If they want to know about the other way, I also use the correct verbiage, and, in addition, recommend that they talk to that school regarding their acceptance of my school's credits.
