I think the school catalog is the best resource that a person working in admissions should have. It is a helpful guide to remind us and keep important information about the school such as the rules and regulations.
You are so right Shara! The catalog is such an important piece of information that I intend to show each student exactly how to navigate online in order to find the information they are looking for in terms of the catalog. Having an online tool is effective so long as our students know where to find it.
Shara ,
More and more, catalogs are available online. The important factor is that all versions are the same.

Rebecca,
Many times online is the first place students look for a catalog. We are slowly drifting away from the hardbound copy of the catalog and viewing must material online.

Sharon,
We should only be using the catalog that is approved by the commission. The catalog along with the enrollment agreement constitute the contract between the student and the school. Two very important documents in the enrollment process.

I agree that the school catalog is a very valuable tool. However, as outlined in forum 1 of this course, knowing the school's history, organizational structure, policies, and procedures are essential information to answer questions.
The discussion in forum 1 also outlined some "hard questions" whose answers are not in the catalog, but based on the organizational social structure such as the culture of the school, relationship between the students and teachers, and retention and completion rates.
