Distinguishing whether a GED is fake or legitimate

A person with a GED wants to enroll in your Barber Academy, how can you distinguish if the GED is fake or legitimate?

Aubrey,

The GED must be recognized by the state as an entity that awards the equivalency.

Does the school have to be accredited to accept their GED?

Naldy,

It must be an authorized GED testing center. In order for compliance, a proctor must be present.

Deni-Maire,

Excellent! You're providing a valuable service to your students. Having the prep time gets the students familiar with your school and then directing them to an authorized location keeps the separation for compliance.

We have also found that if the student took the test online,or without a proctor then it is not acceptable.

One way we have helped students with their GED, and guaranteeing it's authentic, is we now offer a GED program at our student. We help the students with prep and finding an authorized location to administer their testing. Often we will have the GED sent directly to our school. That way we can to award them their certificate, valid it is authentic and have a copy on file for them should they attend out institution.

CLEOPHAT,

You really have to do research on whether a transcript is legitimate or not. Making sure will save you time and effort in the future.

There is also a search tool on advanc-ed.org that allows you to find out if the school they claim the GED is from, or any other school, is accredited. You can also find out other information like enrollment, address, how long the have been accredited.

Ask him or her for the official transcript. Have him or her order an official transcript and have it mail straight to the school.
