Getting the potential student to a yes!

Having all the correct information is a good way to get the potential students to yes. What do you do additional that helps them feel secure with the school?

Heidi,
Integrity, honesty, and ethics should be the driving forces for us and conducting business. That way we know we've done the right thing and can provide the best customer service to our students.

Patty Aronoff

Also integrity for me is a plus and also the feeling of doing the right thing for the right person. The fact of saying things that are not true to make the prospective student feel like wow going to school is the Coolest thing ever!! Like saying lies to make them feel great and finally get the yes! That is a No No for me!.

Rebekah,

Honesty is the only way to conduct business. They rely on us so much for information and direction, there is no better way to do business than honestly.

Patty Aronoff

I do the same. If you are honest then you will gain their trust!

William,

The tour really brings it all together. Having the interview and the overview and talking about the programs becomes more realistic with the tour of the campus.

Patty Aronoff

I agree that a tour of the facility is important to the prospective student. They become more comfortable once they see where they will be learning.

Robert,
Agreed! They should be fully aware of what they are about to step into in order to achieve their dreams. If they do not have full information then they may not be fully prepared or it may not be the right fit.

Patty Aronoff

It is important to find out if the school will help the student realize his or her dreams. It is necessary to provide information on the training the institution provides understandably. The potential student must be clear on the information and we must be sure if this is what he or she really needs to get where they want to be, or moving them towards their goal.

Madelyne ,

I think we all agree it is easier for a student to say yes when they are well-informed and feel comfortable about their decision. By providing them a very thorough overview of the school and exciting tour, it reaffirms what they have already read about your school.

Patty Aronoff

Getting a potential student to say Yes,
by listening to the student and knowing their passions in their fields that they are considering.
By being honest with the answers that they have in their questions about the school.
Touring the students and introducing them to the
instructors and students that will be in the same course.
By allowing them to make up their mind and following their passion.

Nelida,
The tour of the campus creates a shift in the interview process. As we walk along the halls and see the classrooms, it provides us an opportunity to discuss further the programs that we have to offer.

Patty Aronoff

I like to also provide a tour of our campus and talk them about all features our campus has to offer such as career services, tutoring, etc..

Andrea,
Agreed! It is about knowing your prospective student and finding out more about them throughout the interview process. As you develop the relationship you will know how to proceed.

Patty Aronoff

Susan,

You are following the right path. When we put too much pressure or omit information then that creates doubt.

Patty Aronoff

I think the paperwork and gathering the information is just a small (but necessary) requirement of getting them to a YES. I think having a prospective student that feels comfortable, excited and trusts you are most important!

I tend to "baby" my students a bit, and it's pretty common where I work but for some students, that extra attention means the world to them. Whether it's just being a good listener, giving a little pep talk or motivational talk, or just being empathetic to their situation but yet not get into their "glass half empty" kind of thinking. Many of these students only hear why they can't do something and if you are giving them a YES attitude, they will come back with one too!
